For the Not Even Close to Last Time... My Cousin

"I was just walking around, when all of a sudden I was hit in the face with a stuffed cheetah!!!" Yeah, sorry about that cousin... I'll admit that this picture doesnt have the most flattering background, but it just captures 'one of those moments'. I dont think I could get this shot, or anything close to it, again anytime soon.

Sunset

The sunset!!! My first sunset picture I've ever taken. I know its not a bunch of different colours like most sunset pictures, but there is nice orange and yellow tones. Also, the trees are illuminated nicely. They aren't just silhouettes, there is actually some detail. The main thing, though, is the colour. On the left side, there is a cloud and is kind of mutes the yellow and makes it look cool.

Looking at Himself

He's in a tree. Looking down. At himself. This is one really cool thing about panoramas; the same person can be shown up to three times (with my camera) in one picture. I could only get him twice in this one though, because he couldn't climb any higher in the tree. Basically, how this works (on my camera) is you take the first picture, and then a chunk of it stays on the screen so you can line it up for the second picture, and same for the third. This is the reason I like panoramas so much; they allow you to include more than one of the subject without editing.

Moon

I have recently discovered night shots. There is a setting called 'long term exposure' and it basically keeps the aperture open for however long you set it to. For this picture, the aperture was kept open for eight seconds. This allows you to capture dark scenes and making them appear almost as if it's daytime. The moon wasn't that bright when I took this. I could barely see the trees, but you can see them clearly with the long term exposure. I like how they are just a shadow, and have no colour. The 'rainbow ring' around the moon is pretty cool as well.

Pussy Willow

I absolutely love the lighting in this one. It seems like the sun is setting in the bottom right, but the light blue part of the sky indicates that it's not. The lighting on the pussy willow also indicates sunset, but again, there's the bright blue part of the sky. It's an interesting contradiction, and all of the contradiction is in the background, which i find very cool- looking.

Rock

The main thing I like is that you can see my dog and cat in the background. To me, this picture says, "As one thing stays still, life goes on," because, there are still things going on in the background, even though the subject is 'dead'. You're probably thinking, "It's a rock, of course it's 'dead'" but you can still understand my point. There is more detail in the area around the rock than the rock itself, which i find interesting.

My Baby Cousin Yet Again

Well, here she is again! It took me about fifteen minutes to get her to turn away from the camera, because she loves having her picture taken. Anyway, this symbolises the wondering that we all do, even at a very young age. She was actually looking at something out the window that caught her eye, then turned to me (after I took the picture) and asked about it. I don't know if you can, but I can feel that she is actually wondering, not just posing.

Leaves

Me and my macro shots... They're my second favourite kind of picture, after panoramas. Anyway, I like the variety of colour in this one. And that it looks so bright in the background, if you look at the sky. Again, like my other posts, I love the amount of detail. That is why I like macro shots so much. They always have so much detail.

Wood Siding

This one is super simple, but to me, it still has meaning. You can see how it is completely dark in the holes. It kind of signifies that behind there is unknown and kind of scary, but you have to look behind and see what's there. I also love the detail in the wood.

Baby Cousin

This is my adorable one year and almost five month old cousin. Lucky for me, she laughed as soon as I pushed the button. This is most definitely my new favorite picture, for the soul reason that she's so cute. And that she's really happy as well.

Rope

I like this one because there is one central object, but in this case the object itself goes blurry from the top, as well as the background. I also love the immense detail in the one part of the rope, and that there is not as much detail in the same section in the background. Lastly, that is my favoirite colour of green which is probably why I like it so much.

Video

A video on composition if anyone's interested.

Winter Journey

Not my favourite, but I like it because, to me, it seems like the beginning of a journey. There's a path, like someone has taken the same journey before, and you're about to experience what they experienced. I like it because the first time you look at it, it seems like just another picture. You have to twice to see what it symbolizes.

Truck Hook

This is just a hook on the back of my dad's truck. It's my favourite of all the pictures I've taken. I like it mainly because there is one central object (the hook) and everything behind it is blurry and less defined. I also like the amount of detail in the hook. You can see every little scratch. The last reason why this is my favourite is because it looks like what an insect would see if they were looking at it.

My First Post

Here I am writing my first post! As you probably guessed from the title, I'll be posting my photography or 'my adventures with a camera'. This is for a school project.
